I just got back from area: one in los angeles. I kept reading about how after seeing NewOrder people would say, "now my life is complete". Well, that's exactly how I would describe how I felt after seeing NewOrder tonight!! They were amazing. You could tell Bernard was completely into it. Hook of course was all over the stage. Even Corgan was laughing and smiling. It also seemed like they had packed in the stage area by the time they came on. The tent must have been fairly empty when NewOrder was on.
During Blue Monday, some guy jumped on stage and scared the crap out of Bernard when he snuck a pic of himself with his arm around Barney. It was actually kinda funny. I met a list member there too. April, AKA (digital girl?) was rocking out in front of me and even got a pick, a drumstick, and the set list!! I stopped by the tent after and Oakenfold was on right after NewOrder. He was playing crystal remixes!!

The highlight of the show was NEW ORDER (Gillian Gilbert included) with Billy Corgan joining Moby for a great version of NEW DAWN FADES.

Great to meet some you folks: Met Vincent and Torbjorn for dinner in Santa Monica the night before, hooked up with David Sultan at the show and met George Saunders, Al Jarvis and friend immediately after the set finished (they were right behind us).
Managed to worm our way to about ten deep back from the stage, good view of everyone except Steve for most of the time. We also set ourselves up on the Hooky side (better action). Everyone was enjoying themselves the crowd up front was pretty into it, I think out area was a hotbed of activity more than any other perhaps. Sound was overblowing the capacity of my eardrums, but balance between the instruments was pretty decent I thought. TBTHOG was a standout for me- Phil's guitar part sounded like regimented Andy Gill style and added something new. I really liked Crystal and 60 MPH, thought Turn My Way was pretty weak relative, but not bad- just maybe was more suited for an Electronic album. Pretty decent length set- with the new members, they weren't improvising with their set at all of course, Phil and Billy had a list of songs they had to learn and Bernard wasn't going to lead them into a run of Ceremony, despite repeated requests. Bernard did a dedication to some fans from Texas- what was that about? Seemed like the group to my left had something to do with it. Billy Corgan had quite a following, apparantly, and Bernard was careful to give him credit several times throughout the gig- at the end, both he and Peter Hook gave him hugs, Peter apparently trying to crush his ribcage in the process. During Blue Monday, some guy ran on stage and pulled what looked like Bernard's ear monitor and threw it into the crowd. Also worth noting was Bernard's careful introduction of all the new tracks (which helped with my list). Quite an experience. The Joy Division songs didn't inpact me as much as I would have expected, but Atmosphere was pretty awesome. The dedication in Steve's drumming and emotion on his face was obvious.
Bernard seemed pleased with the crowd, said it was good to back in LA etc. There was a joke about Billy getting all of the chicks, but then Billy responded that they were only sleeping with him because he promised they could have Bernard afterword- Bernard said he wasn't too excited about Bernard's sloppy seconds.
How David managed to sneak in a full size 35mm SLR camera is beyond me.
Also- who had the NW ORDER license plate? Anyone?
It really was a fantastic experience, my first time seeing them play, as well as my friend Chris, who showed me the Ceremony list in about 1992 or 1993.
Hope all of you folks manage to take them in some day.

Actually, the guy jumped on stage with a point n shoot camera and tapped Bernard as he was looking away. Right when Bernard turned around, the guy put his arm around him and took a picture. Bernard had this freaked out look on his face, as anyone would, when he turned around and say this guy pointing something at his face.
You guys must have been a few people behind me. I was a few feet from hooky and could of actually just reached out and touch his bass!! April, another list member, actually did. So I guess she got hooky's attention cos he handed her a pick, drumstick, and set list to her. It was kind of funny because there were a few people there in the front that were obviously waiting for outkast. Half way into the NewOrder set they were dancing/bouncing just as crazily as the rest of us..great fun!

Hello all!
I just returned from work where I got 4 hours of sleep last night and went to work at 6am. I wasn't going to post until later on today because I am so damn TIRED but after Albert mentioned my New Order experience (or should I say Hooky experience?) I thought I should post now.
First off I feel very grateful that this was a General Admission event otherwise I wouldn't have been as close to the stage as I was. We got there at 3:30 and immediately went to the stage and stayed there until 11:30 when Moby was done with his set. It was actually hard when Outcast was playing their song "Miss Jackson" and many were moshing behind us and smashing us! I really HATE the music but I wanted to keep my place for Moby. I also feel very fortunate to have met some incredible people there as well. Thanks Albert for being such a nice person to me, and tell your friend to stop being so quiet :P I really wish I would have met more of you guys but hopefully they will come out here next year and we can really meet up!
Well enough about my day, the concert I have to say was THE BEST DAMN CONCERT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! I really didn't know how I would react to them being there in person so close to me! It was phenomenal to say the least. As I said before I was lucky enough to be right smack in front of the Hooky himself. He was the most energetic of the band, he was getting the crowd crazy. I also managed to get his attention and managed to get his pick (handed to me by the way), his drumstick right after he jammed on the drum machine in Blue Monday. I also got a set list, which is a real good thing I hear. He even let me touch his guitar :o) :o)
I really couldn't believe I had gotten his attention, even enough for him to stare at me and actually sing "I will take care of you like I always do" from 60mph to me, I mean he pointed at me, looked at me, and sang that line. Every time I hear that line I will get the chills!! Who knows, it could have had something to do with the Get Ready shirt I had on!
Ok, about the songs...Atmosphere was absolutly wonderful..Regret wasn't as good live as on album, but I still enjoyed it very much..Crystal was played very well and they all really got into it, basically they got into the new songs a lot..LWTUA was the best I have ever heard it, although Billy did look shy singing it with Peter..True Faith was brilliant, always one of my favorites..Your Silent Face was one of the best songs, I loved how Barney played that piano thing he blew into (sorry, I don't know what it is called)..I almost cried during Temptation..and the rest were just incredible (this is getting long now)
At the end of Moby's set I was very suupprised to see GILLIAN there, she was actually there.. it was awesome to see her im person and with the rest of the band...another suprise was that John Fruciante from the Chili Peppers was there....very wonderful...
The last thing that made the day THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE was that some guy gave me a free t-shirt in the parking lot as we were searching for the car.
This whole day was a dream and I couldn't ask for more, well maybe to meet them :P, I don't think another concert could come even close to this unless I do meet them someday... well a girl can dream can't she!!
Well that is my LONG post, I hope I didn't bore anyone but I had to express my wonderful NewOrder experience to all.. I do feel very lucky.
Thanks again NewOrder and expecially Hooky for making me feel so good!
