(to quote Paul Trowell)

"This was a council benefit for Liverpool entitled "From Manchester With Love "...the compere for the night was Derek Hatton...

The Perfect Kiss

BS: "We're New Order. This is a Perfect Kiss"

BS: "Thank you very much."

Temptation is next, followed by As It Is When It Was.

Keyboard or melodica can be heard in between tracks.

Bizarre Love Triangle

BS: "You have to shout a bit louder than that, I can't hear a word you're saying. Then again, I never could."

This has the original chorus of, 'you think too much, you could be dead'.

After they finish, everybody starts to shout out their favorites.

BS: "Fucking shutup".

Face Up follows.

Age Of Consent

BS: "Thank you very much, thank you very much, getting warmed up a little bit now. Also getting pissed a little bit now."

Sunrise and Love Will Tear Us Apart close out the set.

PH: "(Every time I say)? I love you, it ends in trouble."

Soundcheck

A bit of drum machine, as well as the Sub-culture sequences, which last about 10 minutes.

Lots of Hooky muttering at the start.

PH: "Okay, will you give this one...Andy...put my vocal on my side, on my wedgies please."

Hooky one-twos a few times, and makes comments about not hearing the sound in his monitors, and later mentions he can hear a bit of Emulator.

A bit of an original melody as a bouns, too.

This is followed by This Time Of Night guitar.

Now Bernard one-twos a few times, and make some comments.

Hooky plays a bit of the TTON bassline, and Bernard strums a bit of Sister Ray.

More Bernard one-twos, and then the keyboards to Lonesome Tonight.

This is followed by the keyboards to Bizarre Love Triangle, with Hooky doing the one-two duties.

Then there's a bit of Iggy's The Passenger guitar, where you can hear the bassline for Love Will Tear Us Apart, and then Sub-culture guitar, followed by Age Of Consent bass and drums.

And this is concluded by an instrumental version of This Time Of Night.

Versions

Crates Clouds = AUD #3

I will be sharing the soundcheck from AUD #4 as it hadn't been previously upped to YouTube.

AUD #1 ANA2 (JoB)ST, BV, JoB tradelistST version has cut in TPK 0:30 in, may be same as either EB or SD versions. Unlineaged tape in my possession doesn't sound like 'BigBopper' or ST versions and may be another source altogether, though I'll need to hear the EB and SD versions to verify. Definitely not the SD version, but have to track down EB again to compare. TPK has a cut at 0:26 of this source. Also about 20 seconds prior to BLT you can distantly hear the "Faster" female shout which is very close to the mic on AUD #4. BLT has a cut at the 3:40 point.
AUD #2 - TBBPanasonic RQJ6built-inANA0tockSeeded to DIME on 2006-11-03. tock: This is from the master loaned to me by a mate. It may have been traded over the years but here it is in all its glory. Tape to PC/Normalised/Split. I have another version of this which is very clear and trebley but has an incomplete perfect kiss....... " The files have a picture of the stereo recorder, but I can't identify it by model from the photo."
AUD #3 - SDSony WM-D6cSony ECM-717ANA1IA, tockSoundcheck was taped, and listing appears in the Waterrat gigography, so I assume this is in circulation. Verified on tapelist listed at http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Mezzanine/3692/boot.html May be the same version that tock made available on 2006-11-16.

tock: "I bought the tape from a local record fair about two weeks after the concert.....it sounds to be prob ANA1...not much hiss. (The inlay says mixing desk but it obviously isn't)"......addendum....I suspect this tape sonically is similar to a smiths recording from here http://smithstorrents.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1509 this would make the taper "Steve" - tock 9th Oct 2009

TPK is missing the first 2m. Pre-BLT female shout of "Faster" distant here too. Includes the soundcheck, which is present on AUD #4, but running on that version 8-9% fast.
AUD #4 - RJSony WalkmanexternalANA0dimitroy, from travisbickle63 via "Johnny Boy", ButlerShared on DIME 2020-09-23, with truncated BLT (at about the 2m point), due to issues with the volume being raised on the recorder. TPK has a "Heeeeyyy..." with drunken male cheering in left channel along with a couple of woman tittering. Between As It Is...and BLT one of the same women is yelling "Faster!" and "It's out there", and there's a break between BLT and Face Up.
AUD #5butlerBLT (complete) is taken from a distinctive sounding source that is complete with no breaks (unlike either AUD #2/4) and with male laughing before the start not on any other version (unlike AUD #1/3).
AUD - EBGhetto blasterIAMay be same as one of the others, don't have this one yet to compare.
AUD - LazloSony WM-D6ECM-929LTANA0perspexorange
