Soundcheck
Bizarre Love Triangle
Source is tape from my archives, decent quality. A copy seeded to DIME posted by dropdeedfr is a bit better than mine.
You can hear the last couple of seconds of the pre-gig prerecording before the Order take the stage on the particular source I have.
Punter says "stop in out back as well" or something close to that.
Confusion
BS: "This is Confusion."
Some talking between two individuals at the 1:30 mark.
There's a guitar solo on this one, but it's mixed fairly low.
BS: "Thank you very much." Ends in a descending guitar riff.
Folk shout out for Temptation, but get The Perfect Kiss instead.
BS: "Thank you very much indeed. Thank you very much."
New Order than play Temptation.
As It Is When It Was
BS: "Thank you very much, thanks very much." [He mutters something else I can't make out, might be "What can I say?"] "Shhh...."
Ends in Hooky playing a distinctive melody that usually accompanies Temptation.
Your Silent Face
BS: "We're going to slow the set down a bit now, hopefully."
A bit of talking can be heard after the "piss off" line.
...and at the end.
BS: "Thanks very much again, thank you very much, very much."
Bizarre Love Triangle
Bass pluck.
BS: "It's a new song, it's called Bizarre Love Triangle. Sounds like, but may nor may not be "It's about bees in oil."
As this is still an early version, there are some variations.
First verse:
"You will take me by the hand, and I will make you understand." "That's the way that it goes and it's what everyone knows." "If you walk a little too fast, you'll hurt yourself in the ass."
Second verse:
"I wish my life it could be new..."
"Keep your phone upside your head, you think too much and you'll be dead."
"That's the way that it fucking goes and it's what everyone knows." "Keep your life inside your head, you think too much and you'll be dead."
The chorus is the same.
Ends with a bit of the bass riff of "Chosen Time", which also sounds like the next tune the Order are about to play.
BS: "This song is called This Time Of Night".
lyric: "Without you in my bloody home..." The gone insane and lived in vain lines are reversed.
lyric: "What good's a lie when you've got fuck all to hide..."
A/B side cut precedes Face Up.
BS: "You go out on stage and you'll get me please." (?) And a bit later on:
BS: (after a whoop) "Hey, brighten up a bit, nights, bright, lights, lights, lights." (?)
lyric: "don't let anybody tell you that it's okay, because it's not that fucking way."
The ending bass sounds similar to "All Day Long", interetingly enough.
Age Of Consent
BS: "Thank you very much, thank you very much...ehm. Despite all that's going on, I'll keep my gob shut tonight."
After the first "regret" line, Bernard says (presumably to Steve), "Slow down!"
Sunrise
BS: "Thank you very much. This next song is our last song, it's called Sunrise. (cheers) It's all about nothing. It's a catchy title and a catchy tune, but it doesn't really mean anything. Guess that's like the story of my life. And yours as well."
Ace version, as usual.
BS: "Thank you very much, good night."
They come back on to Hooky causing a racket on his bass. Folks chant like madmen to the machine beats of Blue Monday, with statacco drum beats and Barney's axe.
Barney skips the first line for some reason.
Atmosphere
An appropriate closer to a storming gig.
BS: "Thanks very much, goodnight!"
